Apple and Bose, along with a string of other companies, like JLab, Plantronics and Skullcandy, are being sued by Koss, for allegedly copying their patented wireless headphone technology.
Koss has claimed that various Bluetooth headphones like the AirPods and the Bose 700 violate patents seen in the company’s Striva line of WiFi audio gear. According to Koss, the infringing companies were alerted of the violations before the filings — Apple was notified as early as 2017. Koss is seeking compensation “three times” worth of damages for the technology the company had been developing since the early ’00s. So far, neither Apple nor Bose has made public statements.
